I'm dumbfounded by the negative reviews of the Melissa & Doug Classic Deluxe Kitchen. This is the easiest assembly I've ever had. The finish was good and the parts went together properly without issues. I read the negative reviews before I purchased this and I can tell you first hand that this is a great product. A cordless screwdriver with the proper hex bit will be your best friend (make sure you set the clutch so you don't over tighten). I'm convinced after assembling the kitchen that it's worth every penny.

I did alot of research before I bought this kitchen Classic Deluxe Kitchen. I was torn between the Melissa & Doug & the Kidkraft....boy I am glad I went to see the Kidkraft in person...Its alot smaller!
I recieved this a week ago & only recieved one box (MAKE SURE YOU GET 2 BOXES) if you only recieve one then call Amazon right away.
[...] Today my husband put it together & it took 1 1/2 hrs. I was sooo worried because of all the reviews, but it wasnt bad at all. My husband is a contractor so I guess that might of helped since he had all the tools necessary to get the job dont quickly.
The kitchen is great. The size, the colors, how the doors close, etc. It it really good quality! I went to a local store & they sold it for $[...] so I saved $[...] buy ordering thru Amazon....thanks Amazon!

This Classic Deluxe Kitchen is an excellent idea for a toy, and my three kids (ages 7-4) loved it. Too bad it's built more shoddily than the average dollhouse. The hinges bend, the screws are too short, what few pieces are actually put together for you are sloppily assembled and fall apart with light use. Remember also that you need several hours to assemble the thing yourself.
I understand it's a toy, but for $160, you can sure do better. No one would accept something this shoddily built even in a much cheaper piece of furniture. It's only because this is a toy that the manufacturers can get away with bad quality for a huge price.

We purchased this kitchen with some reservations after reading all the reviews. We've had such good experiences with other Melissa & Doug toys that we thought we'd give it a shot. Well one of the major components was stightly damaged and had a manufacturing flaw that was painted over. That wasn't too big of a deal...I could touch it up. Then we realized that the microwave door and a smaller "wooden" part were missing. Melissa & Doug's customer service was great and parts are on the way. Good thing we bought it well ahead of my daughter's birthday! When we get the parts (in 4 days) I'll see if assembly is as bad as others have said.

My advise is to order this well ahead of when you need it. Then count ALL of the parts as soon it arrives. Then WHEN something is missing or manufactured wrong call Melissa & Doug's customer service. They will treat you right. And it's a good thing because their manufacturer's quality stinks! Hmmm...I wonder where this thing is made...

Update: Per Melissa & Doug customer service we have the third version, which is supposed to be much easier to assemble. It took less than three hours to assemble, including time to "modify" hardware to compensate for a hole drilled off center. And most importantly, my daughter loves the new Melissa & Doug Classic Deluxe Kitchen.
